Ryan Gates Evo X is movin!
AMS has a sick time attack car but Ryan Gates (also sponsored by AMS) is driving laying down the law in the street tire class with an Evo X that has been put on a 750 lb diet and sports an E85 tune at over 30 psi on a new AMS 750R turbo (almost as big as a 35R with closer to 30R spool). Somehow I can just relate to this car much better than the all out unlimited AMS time attack car, plus he knows how to drive the wheels off it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXQV7lFS ... r_embedded

I like the Road Atlanta event, because he runs a faster pace than the Skyline. Puts it more in a perspective for me as to how well that car is running. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9nQodMkphsThe results for that car have been amazing from the first year in 2008. Certainly shows how well the Evo X is ready to be turned into a track car.

Re: Ryan Gates Evo X is movin!
I think he was on the stock turbo back then so maybe had 400 crank HP tops, not sure when he switched to the FP Red but that turbo was sleepy on pump gas and didn't really deliver until they tuned it for 35 psi on 110 octane.
Now he has a unreleased 750R turbo that has peak torque hitting around 5k so closer to GT35R size but the power is almost the same and probably responds a little better for road racing. He's such a good driver and has the car in the right revs so the slower spool is no big deal, but after seeing the dyno charts of that turbo I'm glad I stuck with the GT30 size as I like peak torque hitting at 4500.

Re: Ryan Gates Evo X is movin!
The 750R, Looks like they just swapped the GT30 compressor out for a PTE billet wheel? I saw them for sale on their site claiming 70-100whp over a gt30, but the thing was spooling "GT30-ish" on a 2.3L, so I don't see the hype there.

Re: Ryan Gates Evo X is movin!
Yeah with the 2.3 L the spool is still somewhat lackluster, but to be fair it was on an older EVO without full intake and exhaust MIVEC. Keeping the car in higher revs I'm sure it doesn't matter much, but for street driving you would definitely know it was slower spooling compared to a GT30.
