Post Sweet mother of coilovers
The new coilovers arrived for the car. While I have no intention of driving the car in the winter, these things are made for Rochester. Everything is stainless or non-corrosive for the salt.

We were able to pick up a sponsorship through KW, who provided a Clubsport setup for the car.

I don't have many pictures up yet, but they have a cool video breaking down their valving technology inside the shock.

Very nice. I'll let you know on some tips/tricks on the care and use of the beasts next time I see you. You won't be disappointed.

I think I am just going to go for the rear sway bar, to make sure I can force the oversteer.

I have a Whiteline offered to be sent, and they all look to be about the same 27mm.

Lucky dogs you are!
What are the spring rates you will use f/r?

It seems to be a popular question.
It is also one that has been causing a lot of questions to arrise as people argue the numbers. We have the setup as it exists straight from KW at this point.

Front Springs are 110 N/mm = 628 lbf/inch = 11K
Rear Springs are 90 N/mm = 514 lbf/inch = 9K

I will not know if we are going to change that out before the trip, until I drive the car. Hopefully we can get some track time with it in April.

Thanks Steven. Just for my own sake. what does the car weigh and what is the balance weight front to rear. I had great trouble guessing on my springs and expect i will have to work with that as i get a feel for my car.
But since you are sponsored i would imagine that those folks have a pretty good clue as to what will work for your app. And that the damper is valved accordingly.
Ps. they are pretty thats for sure!

The static spring rates really should be determined by the wheel moment, or wheel rate if you want to think of it that way, factoring the suspension geometry and sprung weight. Then you know what static rate will affect the overall car balance when looking at weight transfer between suspension mount points.

Where it gets tricky is when you try to factor in AWD and more specifically the AYC in the EvoXs into the mix. The dynamic torque transfer can and does work as a secondary spring input to some degree.

You are a bit above me here and thats okay because i grasp most of the dynamics and can appreciate what you are saying and your help.
Now you mentioned and i have read a little that your Evo has a lot of ecu control in maintaining stability and traction and does a mighty fine job with it. I can only imagine the math for each system. Are you tuning those features along the with engine?

Well the gang gathered last night to help put the suspension in. Sean brought his fancy longacre camber measuring tool along with his higher precision shocker ride height measurement fingers.
Sean also brought a fancy pants race suit that team igloo gets to wear. Chris made the mistake of trying his on in front Tim which resulted in an instantaneous nut smack. Priceless moments.
For the record, the suspension is nice, but the lack of KW documentation has been hard for even us.

Nothing like posting up classic moments like this!
My son stopped over after work today and said he saw a murdered black evo and had to look. A fellow / mechanic? came out to talk to him and mentioned that the car was rather extreme and traveled for racing events.
He (my son) is a machinist at Wessie out near Walworth and returns home to Fairport. Any chance this was your car? He took some pictures and it looked familiar. He mentioned something about a Dunlop sponsor? Just wondered?
thanks for keeping us up to date.

The KW's will treat you well, regardless of anything else that surrounds them. Like I said the other night, my KW's in my IX make the car feel more solid and stable at 100mph than at 50mph. It takes a little fine tuning to get road crusing response the way you like it, but once you start driving them in anger, they come into their own.

Although we don't have something quite as nice on our One Lap evo ( Chris' car ), a bumped suspension is already on the roadmap.

That was the car. That little shop in Walworth has the nicest tire machine in a 30 mile radius.

That is good info!! i will put that in my back pocket.
I had mentioned to my boy that i joined this forum to learn more about my daughter's GSX and found the great back story here.
He was kinda wowed by the car when he saw it.
He used to think mine was fairly awesome! oh well, fair enough.
Thanks for the heads up though!
